Dear Prospective Applicants,

Mercy Corps is seeking applications from qualified Local Non-Governmental Organisations (LNGOs) and/or Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) to implement, as sub recipients, the SIDA-funded “Promoting Resilience for Returnees and Host Communities in Ninewa (TAGHIR)” programme. Mercy Corps is currently implementing this programme in three districts of Ninewa: Mosul, Sinjar, and Tel Kaif. Mercy Corps is looking for qualified LNGOs and CBOs as sub-award partners in each location to co-implement the programme at the sub- district/district level.

The programme’s goal is to promote peaceful coexistence and wellbeing for returnees and host communities in conflict affected districts and sub-districts of Ninewa through psychosocial resilience, social cohesion and livelihood restoration. The Theory of Change that underpins the project is “if returnees and host communities’ individuals feel safe and engage civically, socially and economically, then they will be able to have a meaningful social role in a peaceful society”. The goal will be achieved through the following objectives:

Objective 1: Improved psychosocial well-being for vulnerable adolescents and youth aged 10-24.

Objective 2: Increased social cohesion between communities including greater inclusion of women and youth in Ninewa.

Objective 3: Increased economic resilience of youth through enhanced livelihood opportunities in three districts of Ninewa.

A total of 112,265 people (youth, returnees and host communities) are expected to benefit from the programme. The programme which was launched on June 1, 2019 will end on May 31, 2022.

Sub-Awards will be administered in accordance with Mercy Corps and SIDA regulations as applicable.
