Background:

Hungarian Interchurch Aid (HIA) is an implementing partner in Qudra Programme - Resilience for Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi crises -  in Kurdistan Region of Iraq, from January 2018 until August 2019. Qudra is a regional action created in response to the protracted crisis in Syria and Northern Iraq and financed by the EU Regional Trust Fund, the 'Madad' Fund and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), seeking to strengthen the resilience of Syrian refugees, IDPs and host communities in response to the Syrian and Iraqi crises.

Terms of Reference:

In May 2019 HIA started to organize and offer a platform for local non-governmental organizations where they have a chance to exchange about topics that apply specifically to them. To support this activity to be more efficient HIA is providing a Negotiations Training for the partners with a really unique scope tailored to their needs.

Negotiations Training for the group of local non-governmental organizations aims to improve experienced staff members’ or leaders’ negotiations skills, especially towards donors, governmental partners and other stakeholders – even towards armed groups. Special focus should be given to techniques and skills that support advocacy activities (preparation activities, analysis and course of negotiation). Theories of distributive and integrative negotiations; conflict handling modes and negotiation styles on the individual level and multilateral negotiations are to be covered in the training program extensively and in detail, all to be directed to humanitarian settings. Practical examples and simulation-based activities and experiential learning are preferred training methods.

Planned duration: 3 days training being delivered between 1st-15th August.

Trainers preferably have MA/MSc on relevant fields; are fluent in English and have experience in humanitarian field.

Availability of training material in Arabic or Kurdish is an advantage.

We invite you herewith to submit, free of charge, and without obligation on our part, an offer for the above described training. Interested companies and candidates are invited to send a proposal containing:

  • Full curricula and training materials to be used;
  • Detailed training plan for 3 days;
  • CV of the trainers;
  • List of references, specifically for a similar training program. Please, note that having completed similar programs recently (last 1-2 years) is an advantage.
  • Proposed budget for 20-25 participants including daily refreshments and lunch.

Note: HIA reserves the right to ask for further and more detailed documentation to evaluate Supplier’s fit to our quality criteria. Winner will be selected by a committee of HIA evaluating the received quotations by professional and economic considerations.
