NCCI Continues to Improve its Coordination and Information Sharing Efforts

  • Tuesday, 23 September 2014
Recent reports indicate that following the outbreak of violence in the Anbar governorate at the end of 2013 and the spread of violence to other parts of Iraq during this year, almost 1.8 million people have been internally displaced across Iraq. Given the increased likelihood that the Islamic State (IS) will continue to target the Iraqi population in its attempt to establish an Islamic State, the number of IDPs might increase even more in the future.
In response to this protracted crisis, the NGO Coordination Committee for Iraq (NCCI) is increasing its information sharing activities. The enabling of a free flow of information is important within NCCI's mandate for coordination and is particularly important with regards to the current humanitarian situation in Iraq, which is changing rapidly. NCCI therefore continuously enhances its weekly field reports. These reports now include Security Trends Analysis, updates on access in and between governorates, priority humanitarian needs and number of IDPs per district. Responding to its members’ requests, NCCI recently added an interactive NGO map to these weekly field reports. The map locates active NGOs in the different Iraqi governorates on a district or camp level. This map can be found in attachment and is updated on the members’ page on a weekly basis. Furthermore NCCI and its member NGOs have also developed ‘Who What Where’ (3W) reports which map the activities that are being carried out on the humanitarian response by the range of different NGOs.

For a full copy of the field reports, 3Ws and NGO maps please access the NCCI Members Area by entering your username and password via this link:

Furthermore NCCI is also managing general coordination of International and National NGOs that are involved in the humanitarian response, through active information sharing between our members, UN agencies, donors and any other actors involved in the response. We are facilitating contacts and bilateral relations between these actors to guarantee a quick and efficient response. In this framework NCCI organizes frequent NGO meetings in the office in Erbil, the next one will take place today Tuesday 23 September, minutes will be shared with all our members.
