During the first half of 2014, the NGO Coordination Committee for Iraq (NCCI) supervised and delivered capacity building and technical support to 27 NNGOs in 10 Iraqi Governorates, within the framework of the UNHCR National NNGOs Empowerment Project (NEP2014). Following these theoretical and ‘Learning by Doing’ trainings under the guidance of NCCI, it was decided that 20 NNGO projects would be funded by UNHCR for the benefit of PoCs, especially Anbar IDPs. The projects benefit 3429 displaced persons directly and 4000 indirectly, and focus on different issues under the training and learning for self- reliance and sustainable livelihoods and peaceful co-existence with local communities. During the past 2 weeks, NCCI organized the second round of capacity building workshops in coordination with UNHCR in Erbil and Baghdad. These trainings consisted of theoretical training on results-based management and on-the-job training. The first workshop took place in Erbil between the 27th and 29th of August 2014, and was aimed at 22 staff members of 11 NNGOs from Ninewa, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Diyala and Anbar. The second workshop was held in Baghdad between 1 and 3 September 2014, and was attended by 30 staff members of 16 NNGOs from Baghdad, Diyala, Salah al-Din, Najaf, Karbala and Babel. Following these training workshops it has been decided that 10 NNGO projects will be selected in the near future and will be granted funds by UNHCR to implement small projects for IDPs.
