It is our pleasure to learn from His Excellency the Minister of Health in Iraq Dr. Salih Al Hasnawi the official opening of Health Attaché Office linked to Iraq Embassy in Jordan.
WHO has advocated for such an office since 2006 and has been following the determination of both the current minister and Iraq Ambassador Mr. Saad Jasim AlHayani to make it happen. The office will be following the health issues and problems of Iraqis in Jordan. It needs to be noted that another office has been opened in Damscus Syria. It is also imperative to state that the Minister of Health has established close contacts with his peers in those countries. WHO Iraq as a lead UN Agency for Health Coordinating Sector Outcome Team has welcomed Dr. Wassan Alwan to join forthcoming Sector meeting to be briefed about UN work in Iraq.
Dr. Wassan has already contacted several UN Agencies already that are based in Amman. I am sure that this news will provide further support to Iraqis. At this note, the Ministry has also agreed to lead the Health Sector once a month which we hope the forthcoming meeting will be in couple of weeks.
